Why We Built This Site
Kansas gives the public broad access to many court records through the Kansas Open Records Act and court access rules. The hard part in Shawnee County is knowing which office holds the file. The Clerk of the District Court handles civil, criminal, domestic, limited action, traffic, probate, juvenile, and marriage-license court records in Room 209 of the Shawnee County Courthouse. Topeka Municipal Court handles city ordinance and city police traffic cases. The Department of Corrections manages the current-custody inmate search, while the Sheriff's Office publishes active warrant access.

Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
